Mission
The purpose of this study was to effectively complete research on the users of the Sabrhub website and redesign the contact pages so that the information is more clearly conveyed and allows easier access to contacting the company. In addition, this study helped ensure that potential clients visiting the website are able to efficiently identify and acquire the information/services they are searching for. By doing research on people who would potentially use this website, we were able to view the perspective of someone who is seeking technology services, and with that, we will be able to design a website that is more user-friendly.
Methodology
Competitive Anlaysis
Evaluation of other technology support companies who are direct competitors was done to see their website's strengths and weaknesses. A SWOT analysis was conducted on each site so that we can get more information on what is working for them and what we should avoid doing in our redesign.
Contextual Inquiry
In order to design for our users, we must first understand the context behind the people who will be using this platform. For our study, we conducted two contextual inquiries in order to gain more insight on what kinds of people will be going to this type of website, as well as more information about what participants typically do when asked to do a simple task such as “what would you do to find a technology solutions provider?”
User Interviews
For this project, unstructured interviews were performed. They were unstructured because we are looking to gain insight into potential users for our client’s website. Open-ended questions were asked along with probing questions. Open-ended questions help us to learn more about our user’s point of view.
Heuristic Evaluation
The purpose of a heuristic evaluation was to assess for all problems on the website that are supported by the heuristic principles. To initiate this assessment, we began with exploring and evaluating the website to look for any bugs, inconsistencies, or problems that may confuse or frustrate users. By doing this evaluation we were able to find specific things that we will be able to fix in the redesigned interface. To conduct the heuristic evaluation a team of 3 people evaluated the interface to find usability problems and completed a common form for each problem. We then aggregated the problems to see which ones were common between all of us. After aggregation, we applied severity ratings to see how fixable the issues were.
User Personas
A/B Testing
The objective of the A/B test is to identify which version of our redesign is best to achieve a given task. The thing that was being tested was the way in which the users are able to contact Sabrhub. The current website does not have a contact us page and the only way to get a quote or ask a question is to email them using your own third party emailing platform. This makes it notably difficult for a new user or potential client because if they want to ask a simple question they have to leave the website in order to do this. We are hoping to fix this issue by implementing a contact us page directly on the website. This page includes a form that prompts the user to input their information and send their question without being directed away from the site. We designed two different versions of the contact us page in order to test which would be the best way to submit a question.
